Everyone can feel lonely or isolated at times, especially when facing hardship.In April 2021, in response to the devastating impact of loneliness and isolation on people’s mental health and wellbeing — which the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing cost of living crisis have both intensified — TLC, together with partners across the city, launched a befriending service to help combat the effects of loneliness and isolation in Aberdeen.Our service matches trained and compassionate volunteers with individuals who would benefit from support — not only to offer friendship, but also to help build resilience and confidence to reconnect with their community, bringing joy and fulfilment back into their lives.We provide a comprehensive training package and regular supervision, ensuring you’re supported every step of the way — you’ll never be left on your own.If you’re interested in making a difference in someone’s life and helping your community thrive, we’d love you to apply to become a TLC Befriender.
