Volunteer Companion

The aim of Care and Share Companionship is to provide support to people over the age of 60 who are living in isolation or loneliness in the Kirkcaldy area. We offer volunteer companionship to help improve health, well-being and confidence.

Volunteer companions provide face to face, telephone or shopping support giving their time for an hour or two per week / fortnight, going for short walks together, attending groups of interest, going to local cafes for tea/coffee or just chatting with a friend will build a rapport and establish mutual respect and understanding giving both the Friend and Volunteer a positive experience.

Experience required

No formal experience necessary, being able to listen and have a good conversation is all that is needed

travel expenses (mileage or public transport costs) are paid monthly within the Kirkcaldy and surrounding areas

Training details

Induction and ongoing relevant supportive training to the role

Taster

There is an option to go on a 'shadow visit' with a member of staff or to come along and help out at an event to see what it's all about
