EL Carer Befriending Service

Our Carer Befriending Service aims to breakdown the isolation experienced by carers in providing them with a volunteer befriender. The role is flexible, allowing the volunteer and carer to negotiate when and where and how often, they will meet. What they do in that time depends on what the carer needs from the relationship. This may involve joining in an activity, going for a walk or to the cinema or just having time for a chat and coffee in a local cafe.

Experience required

We are looking for outgoing individuals who are friendly, patient and supportive. People who enjoy spending time with others and are chatty and sensitive would be encouraged to apply.

Travel details

Befrienders and carers arrange to meet at an agreed location. The time and location are flexible depending on what the carer needs from the relationship and may involve joining in activities, going to a day / evening class, going for a walk or to the cinema or just meeting in a café and having a chat.

Travel expenses

Some expenses are paid on request on receipt of a completed claim form.
