Special Constable (Falkirk)

Are you 18 or over, physically fit and passionate about making a difference in your community? Do you have some time to spare, or are you thinking about trying something new? If you enjoy helping others, can stay calm under pressure, work well in a team and are good at solving problems then we'd love to hear from you.

If you answered 'yes' to some or all of the above, why not think about volunteering with Police Scotland? It's a great way to support your community, learn new skills and be part of a team that really makes a difference.

Did you know that you can volunteer with Police Scotland as a Special Constable? It's a unique role where you choose the hours that suit your life. Special Constables come from all kinds of backgrounds and careers. Many join because they want a new challenge or want to give something back to their community. We only ask for 96 hours of volunteering each year, and you choose when you can support us.

As a Special Constable, you'll have the same powers, training and uniform as our full-time police officers, but you'll volunteer in a way that fits around your own commitments. This flexibility makes the role perfect for people interested in policing but unable to take it on full-time. It's a varied, rewarding and often exciting way to support your community.

By giving your time and skills, you'll play an important part in helping Police Scotland keep people safe. You'll work with our teams, support local communities and help build strong relationships between the police and the public.
You'll be trained to feel confident and capable in the role and you'll always have support available from the wider policing team. The work is varied - patrolling on foot, responding to incidents and helping at events etc.

Because every day is different, the role can be challenging, fast-paced and unpredictable - but that's what makes it so rewarding. We ensure we prioritise the development of our Special Constables so you have the chance to make real impact while building valuable skills such as leadership, communication, decision making and problem solving.

There's no typical Special Constable. Success in the role depends on your attitude, not your background. We care about passion, quick thinking, honesty, positivity, commitment and willingness to help others. This is your opportunity to volunteer in a job like no other.
