Volunteer Required For Fun and Relaxed 1:1 Dance Sessions

Are you and experienced dance with an interest in the benefits of fun and relaxed body movement for people who are living with severe and enduring mental illness?

Leverndale Hospital is keen to support the recovery of our adult in-patients by offering weekly dance sessions to improve mood, reduce isolation and enhance the in-patient hospital experience.

Volunteers will deliver sessions in conjunction wih Nursing and Physiotherpay staff and will have the opportunity to develop thier skills in volunteering within the clinical environment, whilst receiving feedback and participating in mood measurement before and after sessions - this will allow you to see that you are making a tangible difference for the person that you are placed with on a session-to-session basis.

If you are interested please click the ‘apply’ button below (available when logged in and registered). You will then be contacted by email or phone call. If you have not heard back after 5 working days, the first step is to contact the organization with the contact details provided. You could also check your junk/spam folder on your emails just in case the response is there. If that doesn’t work out then please feel free to contact Volunteer Glasgow at info@volunteerglasgow.org

Experience required

Volunteers must be friendly and approachable and understand that the sessions are focused on wellbeing, rather then physical activity. This is a real opportunity to hone your skills and understanding around the links between physical health, mental health and associated co-morbidities, and adapting your skillset to meet the needs of participants who may have difficulties with focus and/or mobility.
