Handyperson Organiser

Volunteering Matters is a social change charity that helps communities combat adversity, reduce social isolation, and improve health and skills through volunteering. We believe everyone in the UK should thrive, and we know volunteering transforms lives.

Our flagship project, RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme), empowers adults aged 50+ to lead local activities. In Stirlingshire and Clackmannanshire, our Handyperson Project helps older adults and people with disabilities with minor maintenance tasks, such as unblocking sinks, fitting shelves, changing light bulbs, or hanging mirrors. These small, often urgent jobs are difficult to find trades people for and can be risky for vulnerable individuals to attempt themselves. The service is free, with users only covering material costs. Small donations are welcome.

We're seeking an additional Volunteer Organiser, ideally aged 50+, to support and coordinate this project. Tasks include:

  • Ensuring smooth operations and providing volunteer support

  • Recruiting volunteers and promoting the service locally

  • Managing and logging task requests

  • Liaising with key partners and local RSVP groups

This flexible, home-based role requires:

  • Strong communication skills

  • Confidence using computers and mobile devices

  • Good organizational skills, positivity, and team spirit

  • A commitment of at least one year (preferred)

Benefits include:

  • Comprehensive induction and training

  • Ongoing support

  • Reimbursement for travel and expenses

  • Necessary equipment provided if needed

  • Flexible hours

  • The opportunity to make a meaningful community impact
