Walking Group Organiser

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP) Forth Valley is looking for a Volunteer Walk Organiser to support our popular Healthy Walking Group across the Forth Valley region.

RSVP encourages people aged 50+ to use their skills and life experience to volunteer, stay active and remain connected within their communities. Our volunteers support a wide range of activities, including NHS hospitals, primary schools, charitable groups and healthy walking programmes.

Our Walking Group meets 1–3 times per week and provides older people, normally aged 50+, with the opportunity to get outdoors, socialise, and improve their physical and mental wellbeing. The walking programme is published quarterly and includes details of walk dates, locations and leaders.

As a Volunteer Walk Organiser, you will play a key role behind the scenes, helping to ensure the smooth and safe running of the walking group. This includes supporting the recruitment and induction of new Walk Leaders, coordinating the walk schedule, and encouraging new walkers to join the group. You will also attend quarterly meetings of the RSVP Forth Valley Organisers Committee, which oversees the wider programme.

All walks are led by trained Walk Leaders, and as an Organiser you will also have the opportunity to take part in our enjoyable walks around the beautiful Forth Valley area.

Full training and ongoing support are provided by peers, fellow volunteers and staff from Volunteering Matters, a national volunteering charity.

What we’re looking for:

A friendly, reliable and enthusiastic volunteer aged 50+

Ability to make a regular commitment

Good communication, organisation and people skills

A reasonable level of fitness if you wish to join the walks

Volunteering with RSVP can make a real difference — not only to the people and communities we support, but to volunteers themselves, helping to reduce social isolation, improve wellbeing and create meaningful connections.
