Volunteer Handyperson

Volunteering details

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP) warmly invites people aged 50+ to become part of our Handyperson Volunteer Service in Stirlingshire and Clackmannanshire.

This is a wonderful chance to use your practical skills and make a real difference to the lives of older people and people with disabilities in your local community. Our volunteers help with small, short maintenance tasks in people’s homes, jobs that usually take under two hours but can mean so much to someone who struggles to manage them on their own.

As a Handyperson Volunteer, you might help with things like:

  • Changing lightbulbs or replacing smoke alarm batteries

  • Putting up shelves, mirrors, curtains or blinds

  • Building small pieces of flatpack furniture

  • Assisting with simple household fixes that don’t need a tradesperson

You’ll arrange tasks at times that suit you, and there’s no fixed schedule. It is flexible volunteering that fits around your life. Whether you’re able to help occasionally or more often, your time and care will be appreciated.

What you’ll enjoy:

  • The satisfaction of helping people stay safe, confident and independent in their own homes

  • Using your practical skills in a meaningful way

  • Volunteering when it works for you

  • Travel expenses and health & safety equipment provided

Who we welcome:

  • Friendly, reliable individuals with a positive attitude

  • People who enjoy practical tasks around the home

  • Volunteers comfortable using a smartphone or laptop to record task updates

  • Those with flexible availability, even a few hours can help!

Whether you’re experienced with DIY or just enjoy making a difference, we’d love to hear from you! Your skills could brighten someone’s day and help them live more comfortably and safely.
