Volunteer Buddy

EATS Rosyth are looking for volunteers for join their buddy volunteer programme in EATS Living Room Café. The buddy programme pairs volunteer buddies with individuals with a disability to allow them to volunteer safely in EATS Living Room Café.

Volunteer Buddies will initially be introduced to their assigned volunteer, with a view to then supporting them through their regular shift (normally 1 – 3 hours) on a weekly basis. These are individuals who require some extra support and who would benefit from companionship, social interaction and practical support. The aim is to build their confidence, reduce isolation and encourage participation.

As a Volunteer Buddy, your role is to build a supportive, friendly relationship with your assigned volunteer, encourage and support the volunteer as they learn new skills, maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries, and help Integrate the volunteer into the team.


Experience required

Experience of engaging with individuals with disabilities, mental health and neurodiversity issues would be greatly appreciated, but is not required. EATS Rosyth are looking for volunteers who are friendly, patient, and empathetic, and who can communicate and listen well. They need to be able to do their role independently, although full training and support will be given by staff members.

Travelling expenses available for volunteer within the KY11 postcode. Agreed expenses paid into volunteers bank account, after submitting receipts.

Training details

Induction will include Health & Safety training, training as appropriate for the assigned volunteer’s role, introductions to the assigned volunteer. There will be regular meetings and check ins with EATS Volunteer mentor, and Volunteer Coordinator.
