- VO104827
Become part of the long and wonderful volunteering history at Thirlestane Castle by being a member of the team that brings its heritage to life for everyone to share.
Thirlestane Castle is open to the public for guided tours from April to October, and for private guided tours the rest of the year. We receive five-star reviews for our guided tours which are delivered with passion and often humour by our guides who help to bring to life the castle’s long history.
We are looking to add to our volunteer family with a Kiosk Assistant who will be based in the kiosk where pre-booked guests are processed and payments are taken for walk-in guests.
Main tasks:
• Greet visitors as soon as they arrive at the castle. This includes meeting coach groups and welcoming them to the castle.
• Direct cars to the car park – direct disabled guests to castle’s disabled parking bays.
• Be friendly and welcoming.
• Check daily log for pre-book visitors and check off visitor on list.
• Take payment (either cash or visa) for walk-in guests.
• Advise guests with mobility issues (provide accessibility statement) about castle’s accessibility.
• Liaise with guides regarding final tour numbers and inform of any mobility issues.
• Promote gift aid tickets.
• Reconcile payments at end of day and complete basic paperwork.
Required skills, qualities and experience
• Customer service skills
• Ability to engage with a wide range of people
• Flexibility
• Sensitivity, patience and understanding
• Ability to process cash and visa payments (training provided).
Days: Ideally 1 day a week
