Volunteer Speaker (Aberdeen and Shire)

Be the Voice of Change: Become a CHAS Volunteer Speaker

Are you confident, passionate, and ready to inspire others?

Join CHAS as a Volunteer Speaker and help us share the story of our bold £20.4 million appeal - the most ambitious transformation since Rachel House opened 30 years ago. This is about more than bricks and beds. It’s about building a future where every family has real choice and CHAS can provide unwavering care.

You’ll deliver engaging talks to schools, local businesses, and community groups—sharing the incredible vision behind our appeal:

  • Rebuilding Rachel House into a world-class, child- and family-led care space.

  • Renewing Robin House to meet the highest medical and emotional standards.

  • Reimagining care across Scotland with CHAS at Home, hospital partnerships, and a national advice line.

Your words will inspire people to get involved, donate, and spread the message far and wide. Just four talks a year can make a huge impact - and you choose when and where.

What Will You Do?
You’ll deliver engaging talks to schools, local businesses, community groups, and more - sharing the story of CHAS, the impact of our work, and the incredible future we’re building together. You’ll inspire people to get involved, donate, and spread the word. Your volunteer manager will let you know which talks are available and when, and you can choose which ones suit you.

Why Volunteer as a Speaker?

  • Be part of something extraordinary: Help launch a movement that will transform children’s hospice care.

  • Flexible commitment: Just four talks a year can make a huge impact—and you choose when and where.

  • Travel expenses paid: We’ll cover your costs, so you’re never out of pocket.

  • Grow your skills: Public speaking, storytelling, networking—this role is a brilliant way to build confidence and experience. Plus, access free learning through our partnership with the Skills Network.

  • Make real change happen: Your words will help raise vital funds and awareness, directly supporting children with life-shortening conditions and their families.

Who Can Apply?
Anyone aged 18+ who enjoys speaking to groups and wants to make a difference. Whether you’re a student, a young professional, or someone looking to give back in a meaningful way, we’ll support you every step of the way.

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and can make adjustments to help you get involved.

What ongoing learning/support/guidance will I receive?
It’s important to us that you feel happy, safe and confident in your role. As a CHAS volunteer you will be invited to complete a short core learning package that is tailored to your role.
You’ll also be invited to a training session with other volunteers where you can learn all about CHAS and how to deliver a talk about the important work of the organisation.
