The Police Scotland Youth Volunteers Programme (PSYV) promotes a practical way for young people to understand policing by supporting the Police in their local area through volunteering. As part of this, young people are given a chance for their voice to be heard and are encouraged to promote good citizenship.
The PSYV give young people an insight into policing in Scotland and inspires them to participate positively in their communities. PSYV in Scotland aim to:
Promote an understanding of policing amongst young people;
Encourage the spirit of adventure and good citizenship;
Give young people a chance to be heard; and
Give young people opportunities to participate positively in their communities.
What do we do? Weekly meeting promoting teamwork, learning and wellbeing; volunteering opportunities in their communities to gain their Saltire Awards and counts towards the volunteering element of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Previous activities and events have included:
charity events; police open days; leaflet drops; crime reduction initiatives; large-scale events such as the Tall Ships Races and the Edinburgh Tattoo; local authority run events and lots more!

Initial induction training, variety of training initiatives throughout the year including developing leadership skills, teamwork, resilience and communication skills
Restrictions
Minimum age: 13
Availability
Volunteers (aged 13-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
